The Five Daily Prayers

Fajar-The two Sunan Rakahs of Fajr prayer are better than the entire world In the Hadith of Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her), the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, “Two Rakahs of prayer before the Fajr (Fardh) prayer are better than the world and whatever is in it.” For this reason, there is no other Sunan prayer emphasised more by our Prophet (PBUH) than these two Rakahs before the Fajr prayer. Our Prophet (PBUH) always prayed these two Rakahs Sunan prayers of Fajr and never missed them including whilst travelling even though the concession was there to miss the Sunnah prayers.

“Whoever observes the practice of performing four Rakat before Zuhr prayer and four (2 sunnah, 2 nafl) after the zuhr prayer, Allah will send him against the Fire (of Hell).” (Tirmidhi)

In one of the hadiths, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “He who observes Al-Bardan (i.e. Fajr and Asr prayers) will enter Jannah.” (Bukhari) This hadith points towards the added advantage of offering both these prayers on time. The reason why stress is given on both these prayers is because apparently it seems hard to offer these prayers as at the time of Fajr one is in deep sleep while at the time of Asr one is either busy because of the day ending or too tired because of the fatigued day. Therefore, one must ensure offering both these prayer if one wishes to enter Jannah.

Abu Ayyub (RA) narrated that Rasool Allah (SAW) said, “My Ummah will continue to be on good (or on fitrah) as long as they do not delay Maghrib salah till the stars become apparent.”

“The most difficult salah for the munafiqeen is isha and fajr. Had they known the rewards for them they would have attended them even if they had to crawl on their knees.”(Bukhari)
